Ingredients
  

  • Whole chicken cut into parts

  • 6 slices fresh astragalus root
  • 7 codonopsis roots
  • 1 Tbsp dried, ground dioscorea
  • ¼ tsp ground schizandra berries
  • 2 Tbsp whole goji berries, ground
  • 1 piece of kombu
  • ¼ cup dried wakame
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 fresh pear, chopped
  • 2 tsp sea salt
  • Black pepper, to taste

Equipment

  • 1 pot

Method
 

  1. Put chicken in a large pot or slow cooker. Cover chicken with water
  2. On high, bring liquid to a boil, then reduce to a slow simmer. Cook for 4–6 hours.
  3. Add in remaining ingredients, except the coriander and fresh pear
  4. Add coriander and fresh pear in the last 45 minutes of cooking
